A good day begins with good gut health and a healthy gut means healthy digestion and healthy digestion include proper digestion of what you eat, better absorption of nutrients, the type and amount of bacterias present in your gut, etc. and proper excretion of waste from the body etc.
Neither weight loss nor weight gain is possible without a healthy gut. If you are suffering from any other symptom like acidity, constipation, bloating or IBS we have to first work on that before beginning with the weight loss or weight gain journey. Because treating the symptoms and not the root cause is of No use. Diet plays a very-very important role for keeping the gut healthy and in relieving the symptoms or problems related to gut. The important food items which helps in keeping gut healthy are :-
1) Saunf or Fennel Seeds :- Saunf can help gut health by improving digestion reducing bloating, relieving gas, acidity, constipation and heartburn.
How to use :- Soak one spoon of Saunf in one cup water, overnight. In the morning boil for 1 minute, seive and drink warm. People suffering from severe constipation or acidity can soak 2 spoons in one cup overnight, boil, seive and mix with warm water keep this in thermos and drink for the whole day.
People suffering from tonsils or cough should avoid drinking this as it can trigger the issue.
2) Water :- Water shows wonders for digestive system when drank in proper amount. Water softens the stool, preventing constipation, gas, acidity etc.
3) Black Raisin (Kali Kishmish) :- Black Raisins can act as a mild laxative without making it look like you diarrhea.Because it’s high in fiber it enables you to regularize your bowel movement in the morning.
How to use : If suffering from constipation, soak 6-7 raisins in one cup water, in the morning eat and drink that water empty stomach.
Diabetic patient can have 4-5 in the same way, empty stomach.
4) Ajwain / Carom seeds :- Carrom Seeds also known as Ajwain works miracles for gut health.
How to use :- Soak half spoon ajwain with one spoon Jeera or Saunf in one cup water, boil in the morning seive and drink.
5) Curd :- curd contains probiotics, which are live cultuees that promote healthy gut bacteria, which helps in keeping the gut environment healthy.
6) Leafy vegetables :- Contains fiber and nutrients that help healthy gut bacteria grow.

Other tips which help in keeping gut healthy.
a) Eat a variety of natural foods to support a diverse microbiome.
b) Choose whole foods over processed foods.
c) Drink enough water.
d) Limit ultro processed foods, which are high in unhealthy fats, regined sugers, salt and additives.
e) The most important – Drink enough water.
f) Avoid caffeine drinks, spicy foods which can cause stomach pain.
